Aur, the sun, the god, existed on a throne of gold in the fiery inferno of his namesake.
However, Aur was alone.  He was the only being of his power.  Out of sheer will, he summoned Liir, the moon, the warrior.  She sat upon a silver throne, four planets from her maker, watching the planet of life.  Her father, Aur, grew jealous of her proximity to Earth, and, to win the favour of some of its inhabitants, bestowed upon them some of his powers.  Liir watched as battles broke out.  She guided some of the warriors, but they did not respect her or her wisdom.  Instead, out of spite, the creatures with their new powers named themselves the Inshaurii and banded together.  Aur, quite pleased that those he gifted called themselves the children of the sun, decided to show some pity to Liir.  He took the Inshaurii and changed them.  He made some of them look more like him, and made the rest look like Liir.
Liir saw this change as her father expressing peace, and took the opportunity to go visit Earth and the Inshaurii.  The Inshaurii, humanoid and animalistic alike, were in awe upon seeing the warrior up close.  They basked in her greatness and gifted her in silver decorations.  Aur watched from his throne on the sun and again, grew envious.  He too visited Earth, and in turn the Inshaurii lavished him in gifts of gold.
However, when one of the Inshaurii didn't show up with gifts for him, Aur sent Liir to hunt them down and challenge them to a fight.  If they won, they were to kill his daughter and take her place.  If they lost, Liir was to bring back their skull, coated in gold.
The Inshaurii began to grow fearful of their gods, and Liir took pity on them.  She took the powers that they were given and granted them immortality.  She then turned to Aur and challenged him to a fight.  Aur, being powerful but proud, took her up on the offer.  If Aur won, each of the Inshaurii would be killed and brought ot the sun with him.  If Liir won, Aur was to leave the Earth until she ceased to breath a fighting breath.
The golden man and the silver wolf fought in columns of fire, in storms of ice, and in the vastness of space.  Earth suffered damage, and the Inshaurii were terrified.  Scared into hiding, the Inshaurii waited out the end of the great battle.
Finally, Liir defeated Aur.  He sent one last wave of heat over the Earth, and returned to his solar throne.  Liir aided the Inshaurii as much as she could before retreating to her lunar home.  The Inshaurii got together at night, terrified of what would become of them if they stepped out when the sun was up in the sky.
Finally, a compromise was made between the Inshaurii and their gods.  Liir would serve as the warrior to them, giving them the strength needed to protect themselves.  Aur would serve as the god to them, giving them the wisdom needed to exist on the world.
This compromised pleased both Aur and Liir, and the two fell into a deep, deep slumber on their thrones, to awake only when the Inshaurii once again needed a reminder of their god and their warrior.
Aur= god/sun
Liir= warrior/moon
